An amazing thing transpired last year during my Mastermind meeting with my clients. While the rest of the country seemed to be gripped in fear of the economy and general uncertainty, my Mastermind clients continued to manifest BIG marketing and business opportunities (and high-paying clients, big paid speaking gigs, etc.), in REAL TIME.
In that Mastermind meeting, we witnessed several examples of INSTANT manifestation, and I asked if there were more to share. “Jane” looked at me, and I saw her eyes well up in tears of joy. She told us that something really big had happened to her in the last 12 hours. Let me give you some background to the story.
“Jane” had been given an assignment at the last live Mastermind meeting: WRITE and FINISH her information product by our next live meeting (that week.) She agreed to have her passive-revenue product all packaged up and ready to sell once we helped her create the marketing plan for it. She’d had 3 months to do it and it was a big task, but she knew that she wanted to get out of the Hours-For-Dollars business model and into one of more passive re-venue, more freedom, working less. This is good news, because it also means that you can change your life and everything in your life on a dime.”
Sometimes, you just KNOW there’s something you need to take action on to take your business forward. However, if you’re anything like me, you’ve gotten stopped in the past, even when it’s something you KNOW will create big results. You procrastinate, you tidy up your office, get another cup of coffee, ANYTHING to not get it done. Ever have that happen to you?
There are different reasons why you may be stalling from taking action. It could be that you don’t know the next steps, that you’re not sure how to move forward. That happens, but that’s not what we’re talking about today. Most likely, it’s something deeper.
For me, the procrastination in moving forward is directly tied to the outcome, especially when the outcome really means a lot to me. When it’s something meaningful, something BIG, it’s a combination of, “Wow, I hope I don’t screw this up” and simultaneously, “What will happen if I succeed? Can I really handle the success and the abundance that will come my way? Am I really cut out for this much good stuff coming into my life?” (Just writing that seems ridiculous, but that’s what sometimes comes up, and I KNOW I’m not the only one.)

During a Mastermind session two years ago, I got clear on the ONE obstacle that was standing between me and tripling my business past the 7-figure mark. Contrary to what I originally thought, it wasn’t a lack of knowledge, of what to do next or a marketing challenge. I actually knew exactly what to do to double or triple my business. For me, it was a question of leveraging my time, my marketing and my resources so that I can help many, many more solo-preneurs get more clients, create systems for marketing, clean up their mindset and give them the tools and the permission to succeed (I teach this heavy-duty stuff in my upcoming workshop ). That’s my purpose and it’s actually fun for me.
What WAS holding me back was something much more internal. It was the deeply ingrained fear that the bigger I got, meaning the bigger my business got, the more I would make myself a target for criticism and “pot shots”. (more…)

Years ago, there was a question in my intake packet for new clients titled, “What is holding you back or slowing your progress?” , as it related to attracting all the clients they needed and having a full practice. Having worked with hundreds and hundreds of clients over the years, I’ve seen it all. Other than “no knowledge of marketing,” one thing seems to come up over and over again, and it happened again recently, with a brand new client.
The client answered this: “Sometimes, the ‘Little Voice’ inside me asks, ‘Who needs my program anyway? This is basic information that I offer. People already know this stuff!'” This is so common, but in most every case, this is absolutely not accurate.
I have to admit, in the past, I too have taken for granted what I already know and teach everyday and started questioning my value in the marketplace. For example, when I was teaching holistic nutrition years ago, I sometimes wondered why people were paying me (or WOULD pay me) to teach them about whole foods versus processed foods. To me, it was a no-brainer that brown rice was more healthful than white. But to a person who grew up on Twinkies, it was crucial that I explain it to them in detail, and then the shortcuts to fitting in those brand new foods into their busy life. (more…)
“If you want something to be different about your business (more clients, more money, working less, etc.) there is ALWAYS a way to make that happen now. Not in a month, not in a week, NOW. In fact, the opportunity or the resource for you to get those clients, make that money or transform your business is here, right now, in your life already. But you’re not currently focusing on it. If you want something to be different, look at your opportunities differently. It’s there right in front of you, plain as day, if you choose to look at it and take action on it.”
