Guidance-SmallWhen a big event happens in your life, there is often a message for you. Some sort of guidance can be gathered any time you have a big moment that makes you pause and think.

One of my students, Denise, recently came to me feeling confused about her circumstances. She had a serious car accident that totaled her vehicle, yet she walked away with only minor bruising (which was lucky). This shook Denise up and made her think about her life, business and the direction in which she was going. She told me she wasn’t sure what to do next.

Stop when you feel confused
I shared my own story and how every so often, I get confused too. There comes a point when I am learning so much and thinking of 20,000 opportunities, and then I feel stuck. I found that I actually don’t implement anything new because I’m overloaded. When this happens, I listen to my own inner guidance. Last time I heard, “Stop everything and take a 30-day break.” I kept working, but I didn’t take in any new information and instead put all learning and planning on hold.

Ask for help
See, we are always being guided, especially when we ask for help. Remember: “When you ask, it is given.” This is why asking for guidance is an essential part of the equation. Then, to get the guidance, you have to slow down. Keeping yourself super busy can prevent you from hearing the assistance you requested.

You might wonder, “If I am guided all the time, why do I get so frustrated?” The reason is because you are probably busy running around in circles and going into too many directions. This is so distracting that you cannot hear the guidance.

Quiet the mind and be open to receive
When you catch yourself feeling confused or frustrated, that’s your signal to slow down. It’s time to “clean the slate” so to speak, clear the decks and quiet the mind. If you are someone who knows how to meditate, that can be a huge help.

Do things that help you stop thinking so much
The way I achieve this more relaxed state is to stop learning and start journaling. For me, the act of journaling allows me to focus and ask for assistance. Then I write down whatever comes to mind. I also quiet my mind by playing with my children, going for a walk or reading a fashion magazine. All of these activities slow down my mind so I’m not thinking as much. Sometimes it takes a few hours, a few days or even a few weeks to start hearing the guidance.

For Denise, the car accident was her wake up call. She knew she had to slow down and take a look at what she was doing in the big picture. Denise decided to take a break to ask for help and then remain quiet to listen. If you find yourself in a similar situation, these are the steps to take to get back on the right track.

Are you running in circles, feeling confused and not moving forward? If so, then find time to slow down. Stop learning anything new for a short period to give yourself a break from information overload. Quiet your mind, ask for help and create the space to get the answers you need. Your inner knowing will not let you down.

One of the best practices for gaining a deep understanding of your ideal client while incorporating the Law of Attraction is to create an Ideal Client Vision Board.

Create An Ideal Client Vision Board

Making an Ideal Client Vision Board is a fun and engaging way to keep the energy flowing, fuel your growth and expand your business.

In case you aren’t familiar with this sacred tool, a Vision Board is a collage of images, pictures and affirmations of your dreams. (It is also known as a dream board, a treasure map, a vision map or Soul Collage™.) A vision board allows you to focus on your desires and works in harmony with the Law Of Attraction. The more you see the vision, the more it is attracted to you. It is a powerful tool to your dreams.

However, the Ideal Client Vision Board is different. This Vision Board is designed specifically to attract your Ideal Client and to keep you focused on how you can be of service to them in your business. It is a pleasant reminder of you your Ideal Client Profile, designed to focus on their pain points, challenges and hopes for change. Keeping your ideal client in mind is vital as an entrepreneur. Knowing that you are the best resource for their challenges allows you to bring positive energy into the work you do.

An Ideal Client Vision Board does not have to be difficult to create and won’t take much of your precious time. The following is a quick guideline to creating a simple vision board:

1) Choose the size of your Ideal Client Vision Board. I suggest no larger than 8 x 10, so it’s easily accessible and you can keep it nearby at all times.

2) Focus on your Ideal Client: who they are, their pain points and the results you offer them.

3) Find images in magazines or online, cut them out and arrange them on the board. Once you’re happy with the placement, use glue to set your images in place.

4) Keep this Ideal Client Vision Board by your computer and in sight, especially during times you are writing to or speaking with prospective

Another easier method is to simply cut out a photo or two of your Best Client Ever and use that as your vision board. In fact, this is what I have now. On my desk, I have before and after photos of my Best Client Ever, prior to working with me and after having worked with me. Being reminded of her transformation brings me joy and fuels my purpose.

It’s the end of 2011 and the holiday season is here! Whether you celebrate Christmas or not during this time of year, there is something universal we all share. No matter what religion or belief system you have, a feeling of gratitude is something we all know.

The more that you are grateful for something or someone, the more you will attract of that thing or that someone, the people, into your life. Like the Law of Circulation, the more you put out there, the more you get.

During this holiday season, it’s important to be grateful for what you have. Start by making a list of a hundred things, people and events that you experienced this year that you are grateful for. The key is I want you to think about every client that you had this year, every experience that you had, everything that you’re extremely proud about having accomplished, and write it down.

Be in that place of gratitude and be in that place of thankfulness – because most people look at the 2% that’s not going well as opposed to the 98% that went really well during the year.

When you make out that list, I really want you to be in that feeling of, “Oh my gosh, I would like to attract more and more of this.” You might think that this is not very much about client attraction and is more abut the Law of Attraction, but it actually is very “Client Attraction-y”. That’s a new term, by the way, because when you are clear about some of the things that you really enjoyed and are grateful for, you can then put those in your goals. The key is to get really clear on what it is that you really enjoyed getting.

By the way, I’m grateful for you. You will be on my list this year when I do this assignment this weekend.

Your Video Assignment

Write down a list of at least 100 things, people, events, experiences that you are grateful for having attracted and then to go back along that list and circle the things that you would like to attract more of.

You may have heard that “Nature abhors a vacuum”. This saying is used to express the idea that empty or unfilled spaces are unnatural as they go against the laws of nature and physics.

Here’s the definition of “vacuum” from www.Wikipedia.com:
“A vacuum is a volume of space that is essentially empty of matter, so that gaseous pressure is much less than standard atmospheric pressure. The root of the word vacuum is the Latin adjective vacuus which means “empty,” but space can never be perfectly empty. A perfect vacuum with a gaseous pressure of absolute zero is a philosophical concept that is never observed in practice, not least because quantum theory predicts that no volume of space is perfectly empty in this way.”

Now, I’ll be honest with you. I don’t quite understand the scientific part of it (that’s not my strong suit; marketing, manifesting and mindset are), but I can tell you how I use this law of nature and physics for my own business purposes.

I’m a big believer in Feng Shui and how clearing clutter can leave room for new things in your life (in large part because of Karen Kingston’s outstanding book called Clear Your Clutter with Feng Shui.) I’ve recommended it to hundreds of people by now, because it has helped me in so many ways.

By the way, in my experience, clearing clutter and emptying out spaces to attract new things applies to many things in life. One example is that if you clear MENTAL clutter, you end up focusing on one thing and attracting that one thing.

If nature seeks to fill any empty space, and if that is a scientific law in the Universe, then why couldn’t we use it for getting clients too?

So, I tested this out a few years ago, and then, whenever I really wanted to attract a new client quickly, for whatever reason, I would set the intention with setting up a system of folders.

So back then, in my hanging file drawer, I had all my existing client folders hanging and sorted in alphabetical folder. But sometimes, I’ve forgotten to get rid of the folders for clients who had already completed their coaching with me, the Graduates.

If a whole bunch of “graduate” client folders were cluttering up my file drawers, the Universe didn’t have as much room for sending me new clients. So, it was time to clear out the old and make room for the new.

Take out all old client folders and put them in another space.

Next, I grabbed as many brand new client folders as I intended to attract (let’s say 3 for this example) and I put them in the hanging file drawer.

I then added colorful stickies (Post It notes), one on each folder, that said:

  • New April Client 1
  • New April Client 2
  • New April Client 3

As I opened my client folder drawer several times each day, I saw the folders with their bright pink neon sticky notes attached to it.

These folders were quietly, confidently waiting for new clients to fill them.

I was able to “FEEL” what it feels like to see them being filled. And they do. It’s worked every time for me.

And as I signed on one new client, I took the “New April Client 1” sticky off and filled in the person’s name on the folder.

Then, as I signed on another new client, I took the “New April Client 2” sticky off and filled in that person’s name on the second folder, and so on.

I got a sense of accomplishment as I do this.

The best thing about this technique is that it takes almost no time to set up and it’s worked for me every time.

I guess nature really does abhor a vacuum, after all. 🙂

That said, this one’s a no-brainer because it only takes about 30 seconds to implement, so there’s no reason not to do it.

You’ve heard of the Law of Attraction, you’ve watched the movie The Secret more times than you can count on one hand, and you probably love the idea, but haven’t figured out a pragmatic, practical way of applying these to your small business success, ON A REGULAR BASIS.

Where most people don’t use the Law of Attraction properly is that they think they can just put a thought out there in the Universe, do some positive thinking and wait for the results to come to them. Well, in my own experience, it doesn’t work quite that way.

There are several components to using the Law of Attraction (or “Manifesting”) to attract what you want into your business, in addition to marketing:

1) Create the thought

2) Soak in the feeling

3) Take action

4) Be grateful

Today, I am sharing with you exactly how I use some of these principles to attract more money, more ideal clients and more opportunities in my own private practice. Strap on your seatbelt, because you’ll be surprised by how easy these tools are to implement and yet how wildly successful they will be for you, as they’ve been for me. OK, let’s get started…

First things first, we need to get some clarity about what you want.

The first thing you want to do is get super clear about what you want to attract in your business. That said, what you want to attract right NOW.

I used to say, “Oh, I want to be a multimillionaire helping others” or even, “This year, I want to make $500,000.00 working half the time.”

I still want these things and am getting closer to attracting them, but what about the day-to-day?

Sometimes, it’s the day-to-day focus that seems to be missing. Without focus, attracting clients, or money, or anything else you want seems to fall by the wayside.

You see, we’re taught to dream BIG, and so we do. But without a pragmatic way of looking at something you want to attract, it’s much more difficult to bring it into your physical reality.

So, the first thing I’d like you to do, right now, is to figure out what you would like to attract, this week or this month. Is it 3 new ideal paying clients? Is it 150 paid registrants at your upcoming live event? Is it a radio or magazine interview in a prominent business publication?

Get super clear on what you want and write it down.

Great. Now, before we keep going, let me ask you this. Was it written in the positive or the negative? What I mean is, did you write “I have no more debt” or rather “Money comes to me easily and joyfully” or “I am financially independent”.

Are you being specific enough?

“I attract lots and lots of new clients” isn’t as powerful as “I attract 3 new ideal clients in April.”

You see, whether you’re spiritual or not, the Universe will bring you exactly what you ask for. When you’re not being specific, it’s more difficult for you to actually GET what you ask for, or rather, you may get a version of it you didn’t really want.

For example, if you offer 3 different programs, with one bringing in more money than the other two, then perhaps you want to focus on saying, “I sign on 3 new ideal clients for my Fast Track program.”

That said, let’s see if you can rewrite your request below, with more specificity (think: how much and by when.)

OK, now it’s time to launch that rocket into the Universe and make that an official request.
